Jonatán López is a filmmaker and visual artist, the child of Colombian immigrants and the grandson of a matador. His work blends genres, formats, and photographic styles into a distinctive visual world—equal parts surreal and grounded. Raised on Blur records, Adult Swim, and his sister’s Criterion box sets, he approaches storytelling with both curiosity and emotion.
He began his career as an editor, working with visionaries such as Terrence Malick, Richard Linklater, and Beyoncé, before shaping campaigns as a creative at Spotify, where he collaborated with artists including Ty Dolla $ign, A$AP Ferg, and Flying Lotus. From there, he expanded into directing commercials, music videos, and more, with screenings at SXSW, Tribeca, Cannes, and YDA.
When not directing, he can be found driving his ’88 Saab 900 Turbo along Mulholland, developing an animated series with Sony Pictures Television, or designing album covers for Tei shi.
